Who Will Be The Last One Standing? 🏃🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

As you lay your head down tonight give a thought for the participants of Sydney's Backyard Ultra which started at St Ive's Oval today and goes until... there's only one person left.

Every single hour, on the hour, the participants run the exact same 6.71km course. And the 1-hour clock never stops: rain, hail, or pitch black, they still have exactly 60 minutes to finish each lap. Take a second too long, or miss the starting bell, and you’re out.🔦

And they only get time to catch their breath or take a bathroom break if they finish the course each time in under 60 minutes - complete the 6.71km in 45 mins for example, and there's a 15 minute break before the next round begins. This gets harder and harder each time of course.

With many already out today, the remaining runners are switching on their head torches right now and moving onto the night course. No overnight breaks: no pause for sleep.

This went on for four days when it was last held here in April!

Shout out to all the incredible runners, crew, and support teams digging deep into the night. You've got this! 🙌

Colourful Ku-ring-gai: Spring flowers now in bloom 🌼

West Lindfield and Eastern Road neighbourhood centres are now bursting with colourful floral displays.

Council’s Spring Flowers Celebration is now on until the end of October.

Now in its seventh year, the floral displays are brightening shopping strips at West Lindfield and Eastern Road, Turramurra.

There are more than 140 pots bursting with colourful dianthus, osteospermum, bacopa and cineraria.

Ku-ring-gai Mayor Christine Kay said the popular floral displays help activate local shopping hubs, while welcoming the new season.

“There’s nothing like a burst of spring colour to lift everyone’s spirits and draw people to our local shopping villages,” Mayor Kay said.

“Supporting small businesses is a priority for Council and simple initiatives like this can help increase foot traffic and remind residents to shop and dine local.”

In previous years, spring flowers have been displayed in Gordon, Pymble, West Pymble, Roseville, Turramurra, South Turramurra, St Ives, Wahroonga, Lindfield and East Lindfield.

Spring flowers will be on display for up to eight weeks, depending on weather conditions. After the display, plants will be provided to Plant Rescue Ku-ring-gai for replanting in the community.

Gordon Junior Cricket Club’s Woolworths Cricket Blast is designed to help young players learn cricket skills, get active and make new friends - with options for boys and girls aged 5–8.

Kids aged 5–7 can join the Cricket Blast Skills sessions, held at Willoughby Park on Friday afternoons or Chatswood High School on Saturday mornings.

For those aged 5–8 ready for a little more action, the Competition program includes Friday afternoon training at Willoughby Park followed by Saturday morning games at Chatswood High School.

🎬 ROSEVILLE CINEMA OFFICIALLY UP FOR SALE AFTER MORE THAN 50 YEARS

One of the North Shore’s most iconic and much-loved landmarks, Roseville Cinema, has officially hit the market as part of a 1,077sqm property offering.

The Roseville Cinema Collection at 110–116 Pacific Highway includes the historic cinema, a retail tenancy, office space and a two-bedroom residence, opposite Roseville Train Station.

Originally built as Roseville Hall and used as a town hall and community centre in 1912, the building later became a picture theatre and has gone on to become one of Sydney’s last independent cinemas – and a treasured part of the local community.

According to realcommercial: "It remains to be seen if it is retained thanks to its local government heritage status or developed up to 29m high, in line with recent rezoning in the area. Three parties own the Pacific Highway cinema collection, and the sale is a forced one, the result of a court order."

For generations of North Shore families, Roseville Cinema has been far more than somewhere to see a movie. Its old-school charm and independent spirit have made it one of those increasingly rare local institutions people genuinely love.

Expressions of interest for the property close on 8 October and the listing is via Knight Frank and McGrath Lindfield.

With so much local love for Roseville Cinema, but an ever-increasing push for higher-density development around transport hubs, all eyes will be on how the next scene plays out. 🎥🍿
