Bookings for Ku-ring-gai Council’s low-cost fitness program are open now for the summer season.
How did you stay active during lockdown, Ku-ring-gai? For so many of us, the conflicting priorities of working from home and assisting kids with home learning meant, plus the many rules about leaving the house, meant that health and fitness took a backseat.
With lockdown restrictions now fully easing, many residents may be wondering how to shift those COVID kilos! Step forward Active Ku-ring-gai, which offers a range of outdoor fitness activities to local residents who are double vaccinated for as little as $11 a week.
Activities range from tai chi, social tennis, walking groups and yoga, as well the ever popular ‘gym without walls’ outdoor group training classes.
An Active Ku-ring-gai membership costs just $11 a week, with walking groups free of charge. Walking groups are operating in Killara, Wahroonga, Gordon and Turramurra.
Activities are COVID safe with social distancing and hygiene procedures in place. Term 4 of Active Ku-ring-gai starts on Monday 8 November and runs for six weeks.
Mayor Dr Cedric Spencer said the program was ideal for all residents, regardless of their age or level of fitness.
“We want to help residents recover their fitness after lockdown and build some healthy habits that will stay with them all year round,” he said.
“Active Ku-ring-gai gets you out of the house and socialising with others, without needing to spend a lot of money to stay fit.”
