NIDA Open performing arts classes at The Concourse, Chatswood
Unleash your creativity this Autumn with holiday courses for grades K–12 presented by The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). Running from 6–18 April, the NIDA Open holiday program gives children and young people a chance to explore new skills, nurture their imaginations and build confidence in a supportive learning environment, all while socialising and having fun!
From two-day tasters to five-day intensives, courses include acting, screen acting and drama skills. With a focus on personal development and practical skill-based learning, all NIDA courses are run by professionally trained teaching artists with experience across TV, film and theatre in Australia and abroad. Whether your aspiring artist is new to the performing arts or would like to level up on existing skills and abilities, there is a course for everyone – no matter their age or stage.

Your nature-loving kids will have a field day with the team behind Wildflower Garden’s school holiday program, especially during their bushcraft and camping expedition! Children between the ages of six and 12 will learn to pitch their own tents in the Garden’s special Bush Campground and enjoy a day of adventures and challenges to learn outdoor skills. These include compass work and BBQ cooking. Please note that your kids will have to bring their own food on the day.

Do you have curious kids who love arts and science? Luckily for you, the Australian Museum has a fun and educational autumn program for the school holidays to inspire your budding stars (from six to 16 years) to take part in a variety of workshops that will thrill and expands their young minds. These include nature photography, being a scientist for the day and stomping around in a prehistoric playground for dinosaur buffs.

Wild Ropes at Taronga Zoo
Swing, step and climb at Wild Ropes in Sydney’s iconic Taronga Zoo and wave a big hello to the koalas, emus and kangaroos at the Australian Walkabout. The Concourse will be welcoming the story of The Midnight Gang to its stage this April – a play by Maryam Master based on David Walliams’ bestselling novel. It’s about a 12-year-old Tom who unexpectedly finds himself lonely and lost in the children’s ward of St Crook’s Hospital, without his family and in the throes of the evil Matron. But as soon as the clock strikes midnight, he and his fellow young patients realise they can momentarily escape feeling stuck – they use their imaginations to take them on amazing, dream-come-true journeys.
