Christmas Markets

Barker Christmas Fair, Waitara, November 22
Barker College is holding their annual Christmas Fair on November 22 from 2 – 7pm in the Junior School Multi Purpose Hall (access from Clarke Road), Barker College, 91 Pacific Highway, Waitara. The fair will highlight gift ideas, along with a delicious range of hot and cold food and drinks. There will be homewares, jewellery, accessories, clothing, pet goodies, toys and games, along with Eco friendly products, Christmas puddings and handmade artisan items.

Eryldene Christmas Fair, Gordon, November 23-24
The Eryldene Christmas Fair will be held Saturday and Sunday November 23-24 from 10am – 4pm at 17 McIntosh St, Gordon. Guests are invited to wander the exquisite gardens of Eryldene as the jacarandas flower. 50 stallholders, selected for their quality and originality, will be showcasing unique gifts. The garden cafe will offer homemade Christmas treats. Free parking is available at the junction of Werona and McIntosh Streets. Entry is $5 for adults; entrants after 1pm on Sunday will receive a complimentary tea/coffee and Christmas treat.

Turramurra High School Twilight Christmas Markets, December 6
Turramurra High School’s Twilight Christmas Markets will be hosted Thursday December 6, 5.30 – 8.30pm at 104 Maxwell Ave. There will be a good variety of stalls offering unique gifts and products including jewellery, handmade crafts and delicious Christmas delicacies. There are also food stalls outside to take care of dinner for the family while you enjoy your evening. Entry is by gold coin donation. Prizes will be drawn throughout the evening.

Boonah Creative Arts Christmas Exhibition, West Pymble, December 7, then December 9-14
Boonah Creative Arts Center’s Christmas Exhibition will be Saturday December 7 (opening day), and then 9th -14th from 9am – 3.30pm in Shop 27, The Philip Mall on Kendall Street, West Pymble. Artists living with disabilities will present and celebrate a year of creative work. Beautiful artworks will be for sale, as well as greeting cards featuring images of the artworks, quaint ceramics and unique gifts. All will be well priced and ideal for Christmas.

Special Christmas Events

Kids Christmas Party, Waitara, December 8
Magpies Waitara will hold a Kids Christmas Party Sunday December 8 from 2 – 4pm at 11-37 Alexandria Parade. There will be a Christmas display, face painting, candy canes, gifts for kids, Santa’s letterbox and more: direct from the North Pole, Santa and Mrs Clause will make an appearance, as will a cheeky Elf, and the Snow Queen, adding to all the fun. Tickets $8 per child.

Christmas Family Fun Day, HomeHQ Artarmon, Sunday, December 1
Come along to Home HQ Artarmon on Sunday, 1st December as we count down the days till Christmas.  There’s something for everyone on the day: Our Whole Centre Will Be On Sale! Face Painting, Succulents Terrarium Workshop, Jumping Castle, Animal Farm, Mini Putt Putt Golf, Fairy Floss, Popcorn and Snow Cones, Choir and Live dance performances. Chatswood Fair Trade Market, Saturday December 7
Willoughby City Council is hosting another fabulous Christmas market, the perfect place to pick up a gift that gives back to the person who made it! Colombian bags and tagua jewellery from Koguis, Panama hats and hammocks from the Toucan Shop, embroidered cushion covers from Global Conduct, summer fashion from Stitch’d, Sri Lankan toys from Apsara, beautiful woven baskets from Bozy, silver jewellery from Eden Ministries, block printed quilts from Kalai – and so much more! Click for more

Christmas in Paris Market, Willoughby, Sunday December 8
The French Markets have become a hugely popular event on the local calendar so the Christmas Market is extra exciting. Experience Christmas in Paris with over 50 pop up shops of authentic french food and unique artisans! There will be a live French singer, activities for the kids and Santa! FURTHER AFIELD: Sydney Santa Spectacular, Penrith  – Saturday 23 November – Thursday 26 December
Penrith Panthers club will be transformed into a winter wonderland complete with rides, magical ice rink, enchanted forest and the all important meet and greet with Santa. Click for more

Christmas Crafting & Decorating

Christmas Crafternoon, Wahroonga, November 23
Alternatively, a Christmas Crafternoon may be preferred. On Saturday November 23, from 3 – 5pm, St John’s Uniting Church Wahroonga will hold an afternoon of Christmas crafts and tea at 13 Stuart St. Participation is $10 per family of 4. Bookings are essential and all crafting levels are welcome.

Christmas Workshops, St Ives, December 3, 4 & 10
The St Ives Shopping Centre will hold some special workshops including Christmas Cookie Decorating by the Rebecca Lauric Patisserie on Wednesday December 4 from 10 – 11am. Tickets are $10. Bookings are essential. A Gingerbread House Decorating will be offered on both Tuesday December 3 and Tuesday December 10. $25 will cover everything needed to make a complete gingerbread house. Christmas Carols and Choirs

Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Turramurra, November 22
The Willoughby Symphony Choir is teaming up with The Eastern Sydney Chamber Orchestra to present Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, including the final movement Ode to Joy. Turramurra Uniting Church will host the event on Friday November 22 at 7.30pm, at 10 Turramurra Ave. Tickets are $35 for adults. Proceeds will aid indigenous education scholarships at Barker College.

Carols at Sunset, Barker College, November 23
Carols at Sunset, hosted by Barker College at 91 Pacific Highway, Waitara, will be presented Saturday November 23 from 6pm on the OBA Soundstage. Bring a picnic blanket and your Christmas spirit as the college ensembles perform traditional carols and Christmas music. The audience is encouraged to join in singing the carols performed on the night.

Carols by Candelight, The San Wahroonga, December 8
Carols by Candelight at The San is a well known local event on the Christmas calendar and is on Sunday December 8. Beginning at 4.00pm, free activities will include face painting, craft projects and a petting farm. This year children will be entertained by the well known Dr Seuss character, The Grinch, when the kids concert commences at 7.00pm. Then the main carols program at 7.30pm will feature Australian performer Silvie Paladino, renowned as a Melbourne Carols by Candlelight regular, together with internationally successful musical theatre star Michael Cormick, whose impressive repertoire includes Beauty and the Beast, Sunset Boulevard, The Rocky Horror Show, Mamma Mia, Annie and The Phantom of the Opera. They will be joined by Sydney Gospel group Endless Praise and singer Jana Aveling, the local Wahroonga Adventist School Choir, and long term Carols favourites Dave Martin and the Carols Band. 

Santa Photos

St Ives Shopping Village – Santa will be arriving at the St Ives Shopping Centre (166 Mona Vale Rd, St Ives) on Saturday November 16 from 9.30am – 5pm, and be there daily for photos until December 24.

Westfield Hornsby – Online bookings are recommended, however walk-ins are also welcome. All children who visit Santa will also receive a free Elf hat to take home. Click for more

Santa on the Beach, Mosman – for an Australian taste of Christmas, Santa will be pitching up his sleigh at Sirius Cove on Sunday 17 and Sunday 24 November and four legged friends are most welcome. Click for more
