Each year, locals flock to Bicentennial Park in West Pymble for Council’s annual Australia Day celebration. Taking place on 26 January at the new time 5pm – 9pm, the event celebrates Australia’s heritage, history, and culture. The day is also marked by handing out the Local Citizen of the Year Awards to unsung heroes of the community.

Celebrate our national day at Bicentennial Park West Pymble on Sunday 26 January at the new time of 5pm to 9pm.

The annual Australia Day celebrations will include a citizenship ceremony, entertainment and games for the whole family. Mayor Jennifer Anderson and Ku-ring-gai Councillors will welcome over 170 new Australians making their pledge as citizens and announce the winners of the Ku-ring-gai Australia Day Awards in a morning ceremony held at Knox Grammar School.

Evening celebrations get underway at 5pm until 9pm at Bicentennial Park with plenty of entertainment and activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Stars of the show are Shaun the Sheep and Matt Jones with his Aussie rock band The Great Southern Land. There are also an indigenous smoking ceremony and dance performance, inflatable rides, a bush band, lamington decorating workshops, face-painting and roaming performers.
It is recommended you catch the free shuttle bus from Gordon train station to the evening event as parking is limited.

Before the free Council event, the public are invited to the Ku-ring-gai Fitness and Aquatic Centre next to Bicentennial Park for an afternoon pool party between 2pm and 5pm.

Entertainment

Stage show featuring an Indigenous smoking ceremony and dance, bush band and a Aussie rock finale The Great Southern Land.
Other activities include face painting, Shaun the Sheep & Bitzer meet and greets, inflatable rides, Australiana children’s craft, lamington decorating and roaming performers.

The following food and beverage stalls will be available at the event:
• Lions Club of St Ives – sausage sizzle, bacon and egg rolls and cold drinks.
• Turkish Gozleme Catering – Turkish gozleme.
• Chips On a Stick Sydney – chips on a stick, corn cups and cold drinks.
• Yummy Time Dumpling – dumplings and cold drinks.
• Natural Pancake Co – mini Dutch pancakes.
• Bar Coco – hot and cold beverages, ice cream and gelato.
