New freedoms for those vaccinated come into effect today so get outdoors and enjoy time with family and friends What will you choose? A catch up at the Wildflower Garden in St Ives? A picnic at Lane Cove National Park? Or a lunchtime get together with incredible views at Bobbin Head?

After eleven weeks in lockdown, options for recreation are finally opening up for those adults who have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. From Monday 13 September fully vaccinated residents (outside of the 12 LGAs of concern) are able to gather outdoors in groups of five.

Children 12 and under are not counted in this total so it’s a great opportunity to reconnect with your family and friends (and their kids!) This is great news for our local area, which has seen a huge turnout for vaccination. As of September 6, Ku-ring-gai LGA has 86.9% of its population vaccinated with one dose, and 59.6% have had both doses.

You must be able to show proof of your vaccination, so make sure you download your digital certificate from Medicare and save it in your phone wallet. Social distancing rules still apply, and you must still wear a mask when not eating or drinking.

If you are unvaccinated, outdoor gathering limits are unchanged to involve no more than two people.

Stay safe everyone, and enjoy your new freedoms!
