You may not be able to venture out, but these school holidays there’s a whole world of entertainment, activities and fun for kids – and all from the comfort of home.
Big Music Online: Sydney-based music-class legends Big Music are moving online for these school holidays with a Live & Interactive Music Camp for kids aged 5-12. No musical experience, or instrument, is required. The emphasis is on fun, creative musical activities including songwriting, singing and electronic music production. The camps run for 2 hours each day, 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm. All kids need is a quiet space and a device (preferably with a large screen – i.e. computer or tablet) with internet access.
Kids will rotate through three virtual classrooms with three different coaches at 35 minute intervals, with 5 minute breaks in between. At the end of each session the coaches will set the kids up with additional fun, creative activities they can carry on with until the next day.
The Camp Program is designed so that minimal parental involvement or supervision is required, other than to get the sessions set up (using the links we will send you) and switching to the next session / coach at 35 minute intervals, while the kids take a short break from their screens.
The 4 day camp for the first week is $180 and the 5 day camp the following week is $225. For bookings and further details: https://www.bigmusic.com.au/online-holiday-music-camps

Teddies in windows, inspired by the book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, have really taken off in the local area, making a family’s essential exercise for the day so much more fun. It doesn’t have to be a teddy – all sorts of stuffed animals have been spotted from tigers to monkeys. Just pop any stuffed animal into your window or hang up outside where passers by can see.
It has now also been suggested that people colour and cut out easter egg print-outs and decorate their houses with these so that kids can go on an egg hunt. https://innerchildfun.com/2020/03/social-distancing-egg-hunt-easter-activity.html
Other suggestions include colouring and cutting out positive messages to hang on your gate, and creating pictures and positive messages with chalk on the pavement outside your house. https://www.primarygames.com/print_zone/coloringpages/positivemessages/coloringpages/26-let-your-light-shine.php
