It’s on again! Get set to frolic with the flowers and party with the plants at the 2019 Wildflower Art and Garden Festival in St Ives.

The annual Wildflower Art and Garden Festival is the ultimate celebration of spring arriving – and there’s no better place to celebrate all things native than our beautiful Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden in St Ives. Held on the 25th August, from 9am-4pm, this year visitors can expect lots of flora-and-fauna fun for the whole family along with the Sculpture Walk, which is fast becoming a favourite aspect of the event.

Now 50 years old, the Wildflower Garden is home to thousands of beautiful native wildflowers. The Wildflower Art and Garden festival is held each year to “give everyone a chance to see the visual splendour of the change of the season”. Flower fans can buy from a huge range of wildflower bouquets and posies, or grow their own with many affordable plants on sale, all cultivated by Australian plant specialists. The Australian Plant Society will be on hand on the day to offer advice and expert growing tips.

Families will love the festive atmosphere. Start the day with a fun trackless train trip from the Wildflower Garden entrance to Caley’s Pavilion. Kids can then enjoy free pond dip netting, craft workshops and live native animal presentations.

Adults can enjoy browsing the market stalls selling unique gifts such as clothing and jewellery from hand-picked stall holders. There will also be food and drinks available from great local vendors, and live music performances throughout the day.

Guided walks will be held through the gardens so visitors can “soak up some of the Wildflower Garden’s history and best-kept secrets”, and of course there’s the fabulous Sculpture Walk as well. “As you roam the beautiful bushland surroundings, see impressive art sculptures created by talented local artists in the Festival’s public art competition. Each year, the sculptures visually reflect the uniqueness of the Australian bush landscape by using sustainable materials.”

You can also go in the running to win $100 just by snapping an image of your favourite sculpture (further details will be available at the event). It’s the fifth year for this wonderful outdoor exhibition, and this year be on the lookout for the new Junior Sculpture Walk entrants as well, with all participants under 12 and a worm farm to be awarded to first prize.
