The Year of the Rabbit starts this January and the community is invited to several events to celebrate the Lunar New Year…
Between 10am and 11am on Tuesday 17 January Gordon Library will host a free Chinese calligraphy workshop. The workshop is an introduction to the beauty and simplicity of this art form, and residents will use a brush and paper to explore their own calligraphy style. Materials and tools are provided and bookings are essential; book at email@example.com or call 9424 0120.
Also at Gordon Library on 17 January is a free workshop on the traditional art of paper folding or origami. The workshop is on between 11am and 12 noon.
On Friday 3 February between 5pm and 9pm St Ives Village Green will be the venue for a Lunar New Year food festival.
Food trucks and food stalls will be at the Green, with visitors able to sit outside and eat or pick up a tasty takeaway to take home.
Ku-ring-gai’s festival is being sponsored by Multicultural NSW, with Mayor Jeff Pettett saying the event was becoming an important community-based celebration.
“This year’s food festival is our biggest yet, with lion dancers, amusement rides and other traditional entertainment. It’s going to be a great night out for the whole family.”
