Still haven’t confirmed your Melbourne Cup event plans? Have no fear, there are still some brilliant options available. This year we thought we’d look a little wider for names that may not immediately spring to mind when one thinks of Melbourne Cup plans, with venues offering ambiance and menus you’ll certainly want to consider. Each place will include live coverage of the event and at the time of publishing, all had space remaining for reservation. Wherever the afternoon finds you, enjoy the race that stops the nation!

Brasserie L’entrecôte

A local favourite since opening, Brasserie l’Entrecotê will bring their characteristic French elegance to this luncheon event, along with the famous dish from which the name derives. Sweeps will be offered on the day. The three-course set meal begins with a chacuterie plate, presents a main of char-grilled top sirloin with green pepper sauce and potato wedges, and finishes with a white chocolate crème brulée.

Café Patina

Ever conscious of its clientele, Café Patina has two options for the Melbourne Cup this year. Brunch will be offered from 9-11am with a light à la carte menu, of course open to whomever it suits and designed for caregivers who have obligations in the form of littlies later on. Both events will play the races on both TV’s and a bottle of sparkling wine will be awarded to the Best Dressed. Lunch will feature a three-course set menu from 12pm onwards at $75 per person, with sweepstakes also available. The trio of choices for each course includes seafood options, vegetarian selection alongside a slow cooked and spiced roasted lamb rump, with both sweet and savoury dessert possibilites.
